Exciting news to share! 🥳 I had the opportunity to be a co-author of the 8th Edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge - PMBOK®. This guide serves as the actual guide and standard as reference for our profession. I believe it is a mandatory resource for every Project Management Office (PMO), as it is essential to the effectiveness of any organization.

This opportunity is not the privilege of a PhD Student or somebody whohave 4 degrees at the bookshelf. This is a simple opportunity if you are interested in a topic, and if you are eager to improve yourself to a higher level in your profession.

In 2022, after around 5 years of Project and Product Management at Banking - I have decided to get the PMI-PMP certificate. I have studied in my sparetime, went to a preparation course, and after 2 failed exams, finally I got my PMI-PMP certification on 2024. I went through the PMBOK® 7th Edition I think minimum 8-10 times, and I loved it how simple to use it.

So after this I went back to Banking, got a Senior Project Manager position, and I jumped headlong to Innovation Projects. I got and delivered an Onboarding Optimisation Project, now I am finalizing a PSD2 Open Banking Project, and actually now I am in the planning phase of a TOP Prio Project and a TOP Flagship Program for this Bank. You can imagine how overbooked I am nowadays. 😅🤯

But somewhere between my 2-300 unread private emails, I have found 1 email, where I was requested by Project Management Institute to review the 8th edition of the PMBOK® Guide. I was shocked but in the meantime I was super excited, that I am able to share my experience to others, and this Institute is curious about my experience. So I have created a some hours at the nights - and I have read 8-10 times this Guide, and I have shared my Banking PM experience and findings.

On that nights, I was super excited that maybe in the future I will be listed at the co-authors page, and with this excitement I went back to my work. After 4 months I got another email from PMI, where they asked me to review the Standard too, which was a much harder job, than the Guide. I did that too, and I have shared my experience and thoughts at Banking Project Management perspective. You can find my thoughts in the Guide and in the Standard too:

You can find my name on the page 221 next to many great co-authors. I encourage every Project Manager to create time, when the Institute asks you, and find time to do your best and share your experiences. It means a lot for others!

God bless you!

Peter
